Overview
What is a neck lift?
A neck lift tightens loose skin, removes excess fat and refines the muscle bands of the neck to restore a smoother, more defined jawline and neckline.
Dr. Armstrong often combines a neck lift with a facelift for a balanced, natural result across the lower face and neck.

Candidacy
Am I a candidate?
A neck lift tends to suit patients who recognize themselves in most of the points below. The only way to know for certain is an in-person assessment, and Dr. Armstrong will confirm your candidacy at your consultation.
- Loose or sagging skin has softened your jawline or neckline
- Vertical neck bands or fullness under the chin bother you
- You are in good general health and a non-smoker (or willing to stop around surgery)
- You want a defined but natural contour — refreshed, not tight
- You are open to combining a facelift if the lower face would benefit
Healing, step by step
Recovery timeline
Every patient heals at their own pace. This is the typical arc, and your personal plan and follow-ups are tailored to you.
Day 1
Home the same day with dressings in place. Rest with your head elevated; a helper stays the first night.
Week 1
Swelling and bruising peak, then begin to settle; gentle walking is encouraged.
Week 2
Most bruising has faded — many patients return to social activities and desk-based work.
Weeks 3–6
Gradual return to exercise as cleared; discreet incisions around the ears begin to fade.
Months 3–12
The defined jawline and neckline refine as the final swelling resolves.
