Terms of Service

  1. By accessing the website at https://theselfinstitute.com you are agreeing to be bound by these terms of service, all applicable laws and regulations, and agree that you are responsible for compliance with any applicable local laws. If you do not agree with these terms, do not use this site.

  2. The content of this website is general in nature, is provided for information only, and does not constitute medical advice, diagnosis or treatment. It is no substitute for consultation with a qualified surgeon and may not be relied upon to diagnose or guide treatment. Plastic surgery being an evolving field, the content may contain errors and may become outdated without notice; no representation is made as to its accuracy, completeness or currency. All surgical procedures carry risk. Neither use of this site nor submission of a consultation request creates a physician-patient relationship, obliges us to offer a consultation, or constitutes acceptance of any person as a patient.

  3. Outcomes vary between patients. Photographs depict the results obtained by the individual pictured and constitute no representation, prediction or warranty as to the result attainable by any other person, each patient requiring a surgical plan particular to their anatomy and objectives. Photographs are published with the prior written consent of the patient depicted.

  4. No personal information is collected from visitors to this site save that which is voluntarily provided.

  5. Information submitted through our consultation request form is collected for the sole purpose of responding to your inquiry and scheduling a consultation. It is not used for marketing absent your consent, and is not sold, rented or otherwise disclosed to any third party for that party’s own purposes.

  6. Submissions are held in a secure, access-controlled database hosted in Canada, encrypted in transit and at rest, and accessible only to authorized personnel responding to your inquiry. Our website host and IT provider act on our behalf under written agreement and may not use your information for their own purposes. Images transmitted through this site are held on the same terms and will not be published or displayed absent your separate written consent.

  7. Email, SMS and voicemail are not secure media; by providing your contact particulars you consent to their use in replying to you. Alternative contact information may be given at any time and will be recorded.

  8. We only retain collected information for as long as necessary to provide you with your requested service. Inquiries not resulting in a patient relationship are deleted once that purpose is spent; where a consultation proceeds, the inquiry forms part of the medical record and is retained in accordance with our records retention practices. Newsletter records are deleted following unsubscription.

  9. Cookies are employed for essential functionality only; no analytics or third-party tracking is used, and none will be introduced absent your prior consent.

  10. You may request a copy of the information held, request its correction, or withdraw your consent at any time by contacting us at Dr.Armstrong@theselfinstitute.com. We respond within thirty (30) days. Unresolved concerns may be raised with the IPC.

  11. Save for material you transmit to us, the content of this site is proprietary to The Self Institute or to its licensors and is protected by copyright and trade-mark law. You are granted a limited, revocable, non-transferable licence to view and download a single copy for personal, non-commercial use. You may not reproduce, modify, republish, publicly display or commercially exploit such content, mirror it on any server, or employ automated means to scrape, harvest or train any artificial intelligence system upon it. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.

  12. Do not transmit through this site anything you would not send by ordinary email. By transmitting photographs or clinical information you warrant that you are entitled to do so and authorize their storage and use as described above.

  13. Links to third-party sites are provided for convenience only and imply no endorsement of any site, product or service. Use of any such linked website is at the user’s own risk.

  14. This site and its content are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. To the fullest extent permitted by law, The Self Institute and Dr. Armstrong shall not be liable for any damages arising from use of, or inability to use, this site. Nothing herein limits any liability which cannot at law be limited, or derogates from the duty of care owed to our patients.

  15. These terms may be amended at any time without notice. By using this website you are agreeing to be bound by the then current version of these terms of service.

  16. These terms and conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Ontario and you irrevocably submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in that location.

Enquiries regarding these terms may be directed to The Self Institute at Dr.Armstrong@theselfinstitute.com.
