Overview

What is eyelid surgery?

Eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) removes excess skin and fat from the upper and/or lower eyelids to address hooding, puffiness and a tired appearance. The result is a brighter, more rested look that suits your face.

Dr. Armstrong tailors the technique to your concerns, with discreet incisions hidden in the natural creases of the eyelid.

Candidacy

Am I a candidate?

An eyelid surgery tends to suit patients who recognize themselves in most of the points below. The only way to know for certain is an in-person assessment, and Dr. Armstrong will confirm your candidacy at your consultation.

  • Hooded or heavy upper lids, or puffiness below the eyes, make you look tired
  • Excess upper-lid skin sometimes rests on your lashes
  • You are in good general health and a non-smoker (or willing to stop around surgery)
  • You want a rested, subtle refresh — your eyes, just brighter
  • You have realistic expectations about healing time around the eyes

Healing, step by step

Recovery timeline

Every patient heals at their own pace. This is the typical arc, and your personal plan and follow-ups are tailored to you.

  1. Day 1

Home the same day. Rest with your head elevated and use cool compresses to limit swelling.

  2. Days 2–4

Bruising and swelling peak, then begin to fade — reading and screens in moderation are fine.

  3. Week 1

Sutures are reviewed at follow-up; many patients feel ready for desk-based work within several days.

  4. Weeks 1–2

Most visible bruising resolves — social activities feel comfortable again.

  5. Weeks 2–6

Incisions hidden in the natural creases fade steadily as the brighter, rested look settles in.
