Overview

What is a brow lift?

A brow lift raises a low or heavy brow and smooths forehead lines, opening up the eyes and creating a more rested, approachable expression.

Dr. Armstrong uses techniques tailored to your anatomy — often combined with eyelid surgery for a harmonious upper-face result.

Candidacy

Am I a candidate?

A brow lift tends to suit patients who recognize themselves in most of the points below. The only way to know for certain is an in-person assessment, and Dr. Armstrong will confirm your candidacy at your consultation.

  • A low or heavy brow makes you look tired or stern
  • Forehead lines or hooding at the outer eyes bother you
  • You are in good general health and a non-smoker (or willing to stop around surgery)
  • You want a natural, rested brow — never a “surprised” look
  • You are open to combining eyelid surgery for a harmonious upper face

Healing, step by step

Recovery timeline

Every patient heals at their own pace. This is the typical arc, and your personal plan and follow-ups are tailored to you.

  1. Day 1

Home the same day. Rest with your head elevated; some forehead tightness is normal.

  2. Week 1

Swelling and any bruising begin to settle; gentle walking is encouraged.

  3. Week 2

Most patients feel comfortable returning to social activities and desk-based work.

  4. Weeks 3–6

Gradual return to exercise as cleared; the refreshed brow position settles naturally.

  5. Months 3–6

Residual swelling fully resolves and the subtle, open result refines.
