Overview

What is liposuction?

Liposuction removes localized pockets of fat through small, well-placed incisions, refining the shape of an area rather than reducing overall weight. Common areas include the abdomen, flanks, back, inner and outer thighs, and arms.

360 liposuction treats the full circumference of the midsection, front to back, so the result reads as one continuous line rather than a treated patch.

Liposuction refines contour; it does not tighten loose skin. Where skin quality is the limiting factor, Dr. Armstrong will say so and discuss whether a lift, alone or combined, is the honest route to the result you want.

Candidacy

Am I a candidate?

A liposuction tends to suit patients who recognize themselves in most of the points below. The only way to know for certain is an in-person assessment, and Dr. Armstrong will confirm your candidacy at your consultation.

  • You have excess skin or stubborn areas that diet and exercise haven’t resolved
  • You are at or near a stable weight — contouring refines shape, it isn’t weight loss
  • You are in good general health and a non-smoker (or willing to stop around surgery)
  • You are open to a combined plan if more than one area matters to you
  • You have realistic expectations about scars, recovery and proportion
